Made with Bryce

As before, Bryce5.5 with DAZ's free Victoria3.0 model and some metaspheres, the materials used here are set up to exploit the premium render effect, blurred reflection, which is controlled in the speculative halo channel. Appart from the harshness of the shadow thrown by the arm, the blurred reflections does quite a good job of providing an ambient light moddleing illusion in this single lightsrouce render. Advantages, faster render than muli-lightsource radiosity, disadvantages, materials will, due to the level of reflection used, tend to look metalic. I also gave the built in True Ambience option a whorl, but was not greatly impressed, it seemed very slow and not very "Ambient" compaired with the two techniques outlined previously. See what you think. No post work.

The rust looks good, for a more Giger-like look, the colour could be a bit bloodier and show some bump. The lighting used is very interesting. Simpler techniques seem to have their merits, too. What disturbs me in this version a bit, is the depth of the head spiral. The other version does not show it, I had suspected it smaller. In this light, mouth and nose have a cat-like look, which pleases me for this kind of work. Indeed, the hard shadow from one of the arms is a bit of an issue since it doesn't completely fit the soft shadows. All this is of minor importance. The work is outstanding, nevertheless.
