Insect droid MKI
Premium render with DOF. Lens set to 0.3. After playing around with Zethara's scorpian http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/21609486/ I was inspired to further experimentation with wings3D which eventually led to this six legged critter - so an insect not an achracnid like the scorpians - I think. Not that that is relavant. So then it came down to presentation. I kinda liked the metalic effect that Zethara had stuck with but I wanted something that would "describe the shape" in terms of light. Now at first I thought "light dome" but that doesn't work with metalic awfully well in my experiance. So I got to thinking about black mist. Here's the thing, the bryce sky is quite a complicated bit of kit really, but mostly just used for a back drop, however, I thought I'd try and make it do what the addition of mulitple lights will do for me by bleeding in so much mist that it creates a dramatic graded greyscale dome around my model - this is it - judge for yourself if you think it works. Showing my age I guess, I always associate red lights with robots when I suppose now everything is orientated to blue LED's? Maybe I'll try a blue lit version next... Postwork consisted of a little gamma compression in PSP7.

OOOOH! Look at the cute little baby! How adorable!!!! Coochie coochie coo!!!! LOL By the way, I see only 5 legs. ;-) Spektyr
Thanks! OK, as it's you, I'll see what I can do... eight legs...never satisfied... eight, just two short - oh well... mumble mumble...
So, it's not a spiderbot but an insectbot after all. Blue light would make it cold, green light devilish, red light threatening or dangerous. The form of the bot asks for four pair of legs, that's all I have to complain about. Otherwise, it's just a plain 5/5.
