QT 0.18.6 Marooned

Made with Bryce

Another try on mixed IBL and convential light, here on a space scene. It depicts a binary sun system with a visible Red Giant and an invisible White Dwarf. Note how the red sun gives a colour hue to the shadows cast by the white sun (HDRI). The flying thingies at left are copied out of ?Scouts?, the one at right from ?Spaceagles?. Cutie, the folrlorn looking stranded robot, is the Toonbot from DAZ. Nothing really spectacular here, just to show another use of hybrid light.

Rendertime Peanuts - a bit over 7 hours on the machine that had almost 6 days for the last one, rendering the same size. Except for the water and the blue spaceship exhaust, nothing transparent here.

It can be difficult to appreciate the effect of IBL on a terrain, although it certainly is there, however, with three dimensionaly complex objects like the robot model, it certainly makes it presence felt. Most noteably when the complex model has rather plain textures applied. The hybrid lighting is a most powerful feature certainly. Aproximately how long did it take to render, if you can remember?
