New World
David's canyon scene reminded me of a project I started long ago and gave up on due to a lack of models. The goal is something like a boat from Europe arriving somewhere in the tropical regions of the New World. Again secondaries are used, no ambient or any of that. No volumetrics this time, but as the scene is set at -1600, we are looking up at the clouds so much that the voluetrics are not really missed. The point is about looking up at the clouds, and about high resolution clouds. Many fail to notice the real resolution of clouds, as most of the original bryce sky presets are not as detailed as they should be.

minor tweaks fo our beloved program settings I feel that bryce is a very powerful program, that can jump to new levels with very minor tweaks and changes in thinking philosophy. I hope that DAZ will consider making a few core to sky lab and sun intensity that are subtle yet profound. Basically, the sky lab is set too low. Even the lowest clouds in nature are higher than byrce represents them. I even use high cloud heights for stormy scenes as I have one in the works right now and the clouds are amazing and at 100% height. Low cloud heights are a bryce giveaway. The makers of terragen know this. The makers of Carrara do too as bryce and Carrara seem to have some similar powers in the ways of skies, but Carrara is more mature and has a better angle of view than bryce. It's amazing to me that bryce is just a tweak or two away from being able to give the results we've come to expect to be beyond bryce's limits. I will find a way to make this image into something more than a lesson in skies. I got B6 today so we'll see what ,hdri has to say!
Thanks Rashad for that eye-opener. I had a quick test about your idea of increasing the distance camera - clouds. I have been very pleased at what I could observe. This is something to keep in mind.
So very close I'm from New Zealand, which was once considered part of the "new world", and while we dont have the Palm trees like that, I can only see 2 things a-miss, - The hills are compleatly green & bush covered (except for the odd slip), and the sky is bluer, (not as much "grey in the paint" sort of thing) Very nice, I like the watter - very clean & cool(might have to head down to the beach after that tease) & I see a lot skies that look just like that :) very nice
Aye, I see what you mean about the clouds, I had not thought about it like that, but yes, the higher the better since they have depth (something I've often admired in Terragen clouds - particularly the structure and interaction with the light).
