Hideout Mk-II
Changed terrain resolution from 1024 to 4096 - increasing file size by over 30 MB - smoothed it and added basic noise, repeating this several times. I also changed the water - colour and bump frequency. I must admit that it looks better. Not all the angularity disappeared because the terrain is not saved in the fractal part of the editor and hence could not be re-generated.

Yes, it does look better, generally because of the lack of angularity. As Rashad, I, too, agree that the water was a successful "re-do". But if the sky is so real and the lighting that well balanced plus the very natural look of the rock-mat, what is still missing here? I think the shadows make your canyon to appear like lit by a strong spot-light. Even at this distance we should(?) see slightly dispersed soft shadows so the outspoken angularity could finally disappear at all. Now, instead of changing the terrain in the editor, just put some medium-res lattices, barely piercing the canyon, with fixed material placement to give the "volume" expression of a real mountain. I hope I didn't got too impudent with my suggs... just trying to help:)
nice changes I really like the changes. For me the lighting is still the best thing about the scene. The water looks alot better. The clouds are very detailed and realistic. This was a strong piece only made stronger by the changes. Nice work.
