Simple IBL scene

Made with Bryce

Render time 1 and a half hours. Used the beach probe hdr. Two terrains. A water plane and a bit of tinkering in the sky lab for the sky. I'm pleased with the way the IBL lighting interacts with the snow. I'd like to include more realistic clouds, but I fear the effect on the render time if I go down the volumetric route.

yep I agree with gat. Your mastery and skills shine through once again. This was an easy job for you. I love the sky, quite 3d and not as flat as bryce clouds usually are. Taking advantage of high cloud height settings and upward viewing angles for the camera works every time for better skies. Great lighting over-all. The water is mostly reflection, so for me it looks a bit more like silver than water, but in an ibl situation transparency has to be avoided. So I'd say it looks fine. At this viewing angle the lack of transparency is forgivable.

. It looks great, but I think some ice floating by would add a lot to this render, plus I wonder how it would look at the hands of a master.

Simple and effective. Nice sky, too. A scene like this could probably do with some cliffs as glaciers. Water looks very wet and cold.
