Are they so very different from one another? Don't we see this kind of thing in the real world every day?

The flying bad guy is the Nybras from DAZ3D. This is the same guy Nibor used in ?Arena?, but here with wings. It does have a small head (and probably a small brain, too). Just a bit of light under the wings of the Nybras and this is - IMHO - perfect. Very nice idea, superbly done. Good atmosphere, (otherwise) good lighting, good colour choice, nice light rays. The sword is held a bit lame - but the main job is probably done by the light ball in the angels left hand.

Well I don't think we will ever see this kind of thing in the real world; but I would have to agree the shadows could be a bit lighter.
Other than that this is a great scene.

Dramatic piece. I like the sky. Victoria 4 and Amarseda Hair work well with the wings, a very cool looking angel. The winged evil character has a very small head. I think a larger head would make him look more deadly.
Lighting is again in the right direction. I feel no ambient materials cheapening the scene. But in real life the shadows would not be quite this dark. There would be some secondary light bouncing around in the atmosphere. I suggest placing a very weak dark gray light underneath the characters. Only one light is needed between the two. The light source should have no falloff in this case, and be extremely dark gray in color and low in intensity like maybe 2. It will give the undersides of the wings just enough light to look real.
