Room Design
Another installment of realism. Most of the textures involved are photograph based. My theory of light is not to ever use the ambient channel unless the material is hot enough to glow, in this case there are no ambient materials. After rendering Livin' Large, I figured I've give interiors another whirl. Hope you all like it. Feedback is appreciated. Sofa and tabled from daz, lamps modelled by me in truespace 4.3. Final render in bryce6.1. House accross the street modelled in truespace also.

;) good job
Nice work. Glad to see I helped you obtain a nice texture.
IMPRESEED AFTERMATH I WAS LOOKING A THIS PIC AGAIN AND NOTICED THE REFLECTION OF THE LAMP IN THE WINDOW AND I AM INPRESSED FAR AND BEOND BELEAF COLOR AND LIGHTING TOP MARKS
lampshades Thanks alot David and a special thanks to you Horo for your kind words and willingness to participate in this image. It means alot to me. Richter I will indeed dive further into the lampshades issue. The cool thing about them is that the material I'm using casts a clean shadow, even though the fabric material has bump maps. The transparency somehow remains unaffected. I used the exact same material for the lamps in both this scene and Livin' Large. I struggled a bit to get the shade to look bumpy without casting a grainy shadow. I have no idea how I actually did it. I used my folige transparency trick a bit, a modified version of course, but the result was better than expected. More to come.
Definately top marks. I guess mostly it has all been said. So I'll just say how impressed I am with the overally setup and the contrast you've achieved between the hard and soft materials in the scene. 5/5
Outstanding! Your works do not stop short in front of the camera but there is a lot more that cannot be seen directly. You're building a larger environment as is obvious when we look outside the windows or in the next room at right. I know I am the wrong person to say it, but the picture on the wall really fits into this living. I am absolutely honoured that this picture found such a home. A nice detail is that some pillows have the same pattern as the carpet - which looks great as it is. I don't think a terrain would be an improvement. The lighting in the room is excellent and looks very real. When I compare the light in the room and the one outside of it, there is a slight mismatch. With the brighness outside, the lamps inside would not be so prominent. If the outside were more subdued as in early dawn, it would be probably better. The upper part of the curtains suggest a very stiff kind of fabric was used, but I've seen such, so it's not unreal. I agree with richter that this is as yet the most beautiful room you've done. Very tidy and the floor freshly beeswaxed. As far as interiors go, your works are second to none. Ever thought of going into interior design? Top marks.
Brilliant, Rashad! This scene feels much more "at home", shall I say, then Livin' Large. Nice design on the lamps. The matte specularity responce from these lamp-lights on the right wall looks very good. It also is very nice to see that slight reflection from the lights on the windows and yes, the lampshaders are something you should really dive into. This lightspread does level-up the realism. The brickwall gives this apartment an interesting "break-up". And speaking of break-ups I'm looking with joy at the curtains. While the material you used there is excellent, the curtains themselves might need to shake off that straight from that they hold. Did you use a terrain for a model? If so, the upper part will need to be more smooth and less defined. The lower part is just great. Overall - nice use of models and Horo's "Abkehr". It really fits very good in the scene! Top Marks!
Thanks for the positive feedback. I did consider a terrain for the carpet but I wanted the carpet to feel more soft than course. I could have used a higher bump setting also to give it more depth, but when I looked at photos of carpets I found that very little of the bumpiness was truly visible. I was also going to add a plant but I put plants into almost every scene so I figured I'd go a different route this time. As I consider the scene, I realize that the lampshades are doing something quite interesting to the scene. Because the shades cast shadows yet are transparent they create an odd effect where the light sources not only cast light rays, but shadow rays, as shadows are calculated as rays just like lights in rendering programs. the shadow rays accompanying the light rays may be giving the scene a lift in it's realism. The effect struck me in Livin' Large, but it is in this scene that I am really getting the point. I plan to experiment more with filtered light sources to see how they look in other situations like outdoors. The total render time was about 28 hours. Yes, it takes a while, but to me the result is worthwhile. Thanks for the feedback all!
Honey! I'm home! ;-) This is truly splendid. I feel like I can just walk into it, sit down on that couch, grab the remote.......oh wait, there is no remote...and no TV either...unless it's on the wall opposite the couch?.....anyway, I'd put on Sci Fi Channel and veg for a while. ;-) Magnificent image! 5/5
. Its great that there are people (or a person I should say) that does such great renders of interiors with bryce.5/5
Beautiful!!! I just love your home designs and your architechtures. Thats probably not spelled right! Your work is so intricate. Just amazing! Can I vote twice to give you a 10?
Wow your interiors are amazing. Your lamps and lampshades look much better than in Livin' Large. The lighting is great but maybe convert that carpet into a terrain to give it a little more depth. Great work though! 5/5
OOpps, I forgot to give my homey Horo a shout out for his lovely work blatently stolen by me. From the moment I saw that image I knew it belonged in someone's living room, so I put it into this one. I hope that is okay. As far as I know all content uploaded here is free to use as one pleases, so Horo I apologize if I've offended, please let me know and I will put something else there. I should have checked with you first. Sorry. Either way thank you because your image really levels up the scene in my opinion, gives it class.
wow noce work this lighting and room is well put together mekes me feel at home
