Abandoned Halls
This structure is known as the Sponza. Ideally the lighting should feel very natural. Light and shadow I am hoping are convincing. In scenes with this much complexity it can be difficult to arrage spotlights along every wall. Spotlights aslo do not round corners very well. So In this case I have used radials. Testing more techniques for ambient light. In this case I have used IBL and a 3d mesh of radials arranged so that all lights are equally distant from one another in three dimensions. I have three layers of lights for each floor. I initially started with random cluster David style but I found it the randomness distracting so I created a structured 3d arrangement. My goal was to use the falloffs to blaance the light and remove almost all signs of banding with minimal lights. A link to download this moidel and others is listed below: http://hdri.cgtechniques.com/~sibenik2/ FYI, The building has only one opening at the top. All light enters from above. The image is yet unfinished because I do not know what I should add to this image to ptovide an intersting story. Who or what should be walking these halls?
