Chantier
Chantier is French for construction site. The far buildings are OM Hangars from DAZ, the dish antennas and the roof construction were made in Bryce. Lit by the the Bryce sun and a bit from the blueish nebula. The planet is just a sphere. I'd loved to use soft shadows here but it didn't wor outk the way I expected (see Shadow-Experiments in Misc). The the base for the material on the terrains comes from David, I've modified them a lot. Precious ores were found that will have to be exploited now.

;) i like the ambiance and specially the shadow of the structur it's gives more realistic
Now I know where the blue is coming from. I should've checked this entry first. Anyway, very good material/texture on this dead planet. The erosion here and there seems really nice. As if half a mill. years ago there was a big sea here. About the size of the scene, well I can feel it is big, but how big exactly... In my opinion you should have 2 or more elements (objs) in scene that are replicated here in foreground and at the far back end of the "Abyss". So the viewer has a little something to compare when looking at the scene. How about just a tiny part of an enourmous sattelite dish seen at left. I think this would nicely present the scale of everything else. The more tedious way to do this would be to extend the construction until it reaches ground near the Hangar. Yes, it will require more work then the dish case, but since it is constructen in Bryce it won't consume a ton of memory. As last words, I don't think that soft shadows are critical for your setup. When there's no atmosphere, there's nothing to disperse/diffuse the shadows as light enters and hits the planet's surface. I remember those NΛSΛ photos when N. Armstrong walks on the moon - hard shadows everywhere.
Thank you all for your kind comments. This is not in our solar system, hence the dull planet is not earth, it is just how it looks, any dull planet. Size of everything was a problem. I intended to make it appear very large. Therefore, the OM hangars and the satellite telecom dishes look so small, they are far away. I had a spaceship under the roof at one time, I should have left it to show that there are at least 50 yards to the fall. Here, a hangar is constructed for transportation vessels that have to carry off the ores exploited from the mountains in the back of this high mensa. I suspect the hangar was created so near the edge to make approach and depart for the frighters more easy. As for the material: no, it is not available here. I've rehersed a few dozens of materials for David about 4 years ago and they still linger around on my hard disk. I don't remember the name of the one I've used here but I modified it considerably to adapt it to the size and colour of this place. And the near shadows are the problem, I do agree on this.
I like it. But I do miss the soft shadows here, I can see now why you wanted them here. I like everything except what looks to me like a steep fall-off, like the moon is only a few more feet until the end. I have no idea if this is plausible or not. I like the inclusion of the blue nebula, it fixes the shadows just enough.
` Wow nice landscape and did u make your own texture on those mountains??
I really like the landscape/mountains and with that texture it looks really good. Is it available on this site? The small moon base with the two radars is very detailed, might be cool if they were easier to see them. The construction looks very good, wonder what they are building.
. I really get that moon feel, no atmosphere and rocks everywhere. Earth looks a bit dull as if it has no atmosphere too, I think that is one area that needs some changing.
