The Invasion
This is NOT the new, bigger, better city that I mentioned before. This was more of an experiment that I thought worked out pretty well. I did all of this at school except the city which I did not have on my school account. There are 5 infinite mirror planes to make it look really big. All of the orangey-yellow explosions come from on light sphere. Kinda lo res picture but just a first draft.

It works for me. It almost gives me a comic book feel. The yellow light almost makes the terrain appear cell shaded. The flying cannons need some texturing of some sort, as now they feel like default grey only. Texturing these awesome models is no easy task but I am certain you are up to the challenge. The sky is very blue with what appears to be streaks, coolness!
The explosions look really good. Hell must be going on over there in the distance. To far away to see shattered fragments.

Thanks. I did make this city but I have a better version of it somewhere on my computer. It is the same city that was the the 'destruction' picture just stretched it out a bit. All made by moi.
Nice use of the mirror planes it does increase the size. So were did you get the city I was thinking you might have made it but you note seems to indicate you might have gotten it else where.
Very cool!!! It would make a great Sci Fi book cover illustration. I love those flying canons and some of them look a little like White Star class attack ships. The explosions look like massive bursts of pure energy that disintegrates without a shock wave. The lack of flying debris fits this idea. the buildings and terrain work well IMO. I'm giving you a 5er on this one. I really like it! :-)
