Simple but effective. Never be ashamed to use a preset. If it fits, what's wrong? Otherwise, tweak it.
Rain The rain effect was made by creating a teardrop shaped object applying a clear water material and random replicating it. I was lazy about making the water plane, I am almost ashamed to say I used a slightly altered preset
