Made with Bryce

An image created for the bryce5.net challenge. Now that I posted it there, i'm going to post it everywhere else. Everything modelled in bryce5, except the cars, modelled in Wings 3D... the white one is supposed to be a renault, hehe.. the other is a mini cooper. Rendered with a light dome.

A conversation around the artwork

Yes I know what your getting at I spent a while struggling to make a "scruffy plastic" material and "slightly rusty metal" to skin up a old pocket lighter - it's on my website - real stuff is usually less than perfect and that's tricky to replicate. Bryce does shiny and perfect with relitive ease, but getting things looking grubby and scuffed is tricky.

Thanks I applied that material so you'll see it's 3D, hehe. But seriously, i didn't want to apply a "perfect" material to it, so it looks more like where I come from.

The little yellow car looks like it could be from a photo, very nice, very convinceing, and the bluegrey building and overhead wires and lamps altogether make for an interesting composition. Only one minor niggle, the redbrown stonewall material applied to the building on top of the cafe - seems a bit out of place for some reason. But that may just be me?
