Very cool

Thanks Horo! On/off button? These days it's all IR and bluetooth isn't it? Like you I considered soft shadows but wanted to keep it looking as "clean" as possible so rejected that on the basis it wouldn't really be contributing enough to make it worth the drawbacks.

The l.e.d. shows that the thing is life. Where's the switch-off button? Very professional looking render. I pondered over soft shadows but it would have to be with a very low setting. Nevetheless, 5/5.

For the hexagons I swapped to World Top to make changing the scale easier. For the ground surface, it was a stone I found in my pocket, photographed four times from different angles with a USB microscope at the lower magnifications, then using Genetica stitched the images together to form a seamless tile which I then used CrazyBump to make the effect maps from and imported these into the appropriate slots of the material lab. But yes, ultimately, the surface structure is a photograph.

Very well the texture has laid down in parametrical coordinates! And a structure of surface is photo?
