Island Study

Made with Bryce

In this picture I tried to create islands with more or less realistic looking vegetation at least from the distant. To achive this I combined 3 terrains: One for the rocky ground, one for the vegetation and one for the beach. The picture might need a foreground, I think.

* Islands look very realistic at this distance. Indeed, for the completion of the composition should be placed to the front anything...

You accomplished what you set out for. At this distance, it does look realistic. Interesting approach, too. A foreground? Perhaps the bow of a boat would already suffice. Oh, by the way, the water looks good, too.

Thank you for your friendly comment. No, I did not use mounds. I made a copy of the rocky terrain and went into the terrain editor and used for the new terrain the erosion function (just a bit). This let the terrain grow, it gets higher, than the original terrain. Therefore I loweree it a bit, until the tops of both terrains are equal. That makes this effect (and of course the material itself.) The material is from Jonathan Allen's serie "Seriously Real Materials". I bought it at the DAZ shop years ago, but I think it is not available anymore.

Wow those trees look super convincing! You used mounds on the tree terrain I suppose. Which material is used for the trees?
