Sky I use a 2d plane moved very far back and scaled very large. Put the plane at ground level. And yes, it is much cheaper than normal sky. That is why this picture didn't take very long to render.
Sky Yes, nice scenery, looks very 3D. Very good sense of depth. When you use a pic for the sky, do you apply it to a cloud plane or do you position a 2D Plane above the scene? Never tried it yet, but it looks like this was a good idea to get a good sky ?cheap?.
